My wife, Maya (from Busan, Korea), and I sincerely thank you for supporting Everest Cafe & Bar and for trusting us to prepare your meals. Located in St. Louis, Everest Cafe & Bar has proudly served Nepalese, Indian, and Korean cuisine since 2004.

Everest Cafe & Bar was born from my professional work in public health. Before opening the restaurant, I served as a Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Coordinator with the City of St. Louis Health Department. Through this work, I saw firsthand that heart disease, stroke, and Type 2 diabetes were among the leading causes of illness and death in our community. These conditions are closely linked to diet, lifestyle, and access to health education.

In response, I opened Everest Cafe & Bar with a simple but powerful belief: food is medicine. A healthy diet plays a vital role in preventing chronic disease and supporting overall well-being. “Our mission is to promote a healthy lifestyle by preparing fresh, heart-healthy nutritious meals for our customers."

Everest Cafe & Bar is more than a restaurant. It is a welcoming community space focused on education, prevention, and connection. Since 2004, we have supported the health and well-being of our neighbors not only through food, but also through action. In addition to serving healthy meals, I regularly offer free blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol screenings, along with diabetes education and healthy cooking guidance.

Beyond St. Louis, I am also the founder and Executive Director of the Himalayan Family Healthcare Project (HFHCP), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing healthcare and health education in remote regions of Nepal.
